Yep. That guy. He is the very definition of a psychopath. There is no tragic back story, there are absolutely no attempts to redeem the character, he starts off as comically evil and gets much darker from there.
For those who don’t know, and great shame on you, Kefka is the main villain in Final Fantasy 6 (or 3 if you’re a purist douche). Our introduction to this little ball of love sees him walking through a desert, only to stop and order a soldier accompanying him to wipe the sand off of his boots.
Our next few scenes with Kefka involve him poisoning a castle against orders just because he wants everybody in there dead and laughing maniacally while murdering Espers (mythical creatures for those who’ve never played).
“But sir, we have soldiers in there”
“Who cares? They’re the ones who were stupid enough to get caught by the enemy!” -Kefka
He also destroys the world. Just because. He has no real motivation other than to cause extreme chaos and suffering.
Throughout the game, Kefka manipulates everyone around him to further his goals and never shows remorse for his actions. His ultimate goal is pure destruction. His final lines to the protagonists are filled with contempt and sarcasm.
“Life…Dreams…Hope…Where do they come from? And where do they go? None of that junk is enough to fulfill your hearts! Destruction…Destruction is what makes life worth living! Destroy! Destroy! Destroy! Let’s destroy everything” -Kefka
That’s pretty much the gist of it. He’s a sadistic clown with a God complex that does evil things for what can only be called “Shits and giggles”.
Kefka, you evil bastard, I salute you.
